This is birthplace of macarons. Here is the place where these delicate pastries were created.
The story of the Ladurée macaron starts in the middle of
the 20th century with Pierre Desfontaines, who first thought
of taking two macaron shells and joining them with a delicious
ganache filling
Laduree was originally established on 75 Avenue des Champs D’Elysees in France – where I will be visiting during spring break!! These are definitely among the best macarons I’ve had up to date – respectively in relation to the macaron trend that started to flourish not too long ago. As far as presentation goes, they are pretty much perfection; the colours are so pretty and vibrant, however, they are very simplistic (no fancy dusting or addition of micro ingredients). In terms of taste, they are everything I enjoy in a macaron: subtle yet powerful flavor, and fluffy, chewy shells. Everything is consistent. The French have no doubt mastered these cute pastries in the most classique method. Although this place is pricey, I would definitely recommend you pay a visit here. Even the inside of the shop is so elegant with a sense of class and quality decor.
We also tried a pistachio macaron ice cream which was honestly DELICIOUS! No exaggeration, it was creamy and so tasty.
In addition, I definitely appreciate these macarons as I myself have started to understand the challenge that comes in baking these challenging treats. They aren’t kidding when they say it’s a difficult task! I have attempted twice with varying results, which is interesting because I followed the same recipe each time. Perhaps I will post some of my experimentations in the future… What do you think? Have you tried making macarons before?
